Simple enriched bread.
- 1000 g white bread flour
- 40 g unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 small eggs
– 550g milk lukewarm
1. Mix the flour and the salt in a bowl. Rub in the butter.
Make a well in the flour and crumble in the yeast, pour in half of the milk and the two egss. Start mixing the liquid and flour. Gradualy add the remaining milk. The dough should be soft and not too sticky.
Turn out on a working surface and knead for 3 minutes. Form into a ball.
Leave to rise for an hour or until doubled in size.
2. Put the dough on a floured working surface.
Divide in 4 equal parts. Roll each part in long cylinder.
‘plait’ or twist the rolls 2 by 2 together directly on the floured baking tin.
Leave to rise for another hour.
3. The bread should be about doubled in size.
Bake the bread in a pre heated oven at 200 C for 32 minutes.
Leave the breads on a wire rack to cool.
